The Emerging and Evolving World of Telepsychology

Drs. Morgan T. Sammons, Jana N. Martin, Gary R. VandenBos, and Samuel Lustgarten discuss both the shift to telepsychology practice for the delivery of psychological services that has occurred as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis and the enduring effects of this shift on psychological practice in the future.

• Morgan T. Sammons, PhD, ABPP, is the previous CEO of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. He is a retired Navy captain and was formerly the U.S. Navy’s specialty leader for clinical psychology.
• Jana N. Martin, PhD, is the CEO of The Trust. Previously, she was a cochair of the Joint Task Force for the Development of Telepsychology Guidelines for Psychologists and a coeditor of A Telepsychology Casebook: Using Technology Ethically and Effectively in Your Professional Practice.
• Gary R. VandenBos, PhD, previously served as the publisher of the American Psychological Association for over 30 years. He is the coauthor of Psychotherapy with Schizophrenics: The Treatment of Choice.
• Samuel Lustgarten, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. Over the last seven years, he has worked to examine the intersections between technology and psychology, publishing articles in American Psychologist, Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, and Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice.
