Kweku Ramel Smith, PhD, Elected to National Register of Health Service Psychologists Board of Directors

Dr. Kweku Ramel Smith

The National Register Board of Directors elected Kweku Ramel Smith, PhD, LP, CMPC, effective January 1, 2024.   

In response to his election, Dr. Smith remarked, “It is a privilege to be elected to the National Register Board of Directors. Especially as this great organization celebrates its 50th year in existence, I look forward to working with my fellow Board members to ensure we continue to deliver powerful career and educational opportunities for our members. My pledge is to help continue to move this organization in the direction where our HSP credentialed members are poised to be at the vanguard of innovation for our clients and society at large.”

R. Kweku Akyirefi Amoasi (Ramel Smith), PhD, LP CMPC was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Milwaukee in the area of School Psychology. During his career he has worked in a plethora of psychological settings. He has served as a clinical psychologist for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Department of Corrections and as the Clinical Director of the Counseling Center for Tennessee State University. In addition, he has served as a Senior Clinical and Sport Psychologist for the university of Wisconsin and team psychologist for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association. Currently he serves as the President of Blaquesmith Consulting and works as psychological provider for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Smith has authored multiple books and is currently an on-air host for a mental health show known as Nyumba Upendo (House of Love) on WNOV 860am radio station in Milwaukee. He has served on the Board for APA Division 47 Society for Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology.  

Dr. Smith has been credentialed by the National Register since 2019.
