The National Register’s Commitment to Our Mission

We are deeply concerned by the uncertainty that many in our community are feeling about their employment status, changes to the healthcare system—particularly at the federal level—and challenges to our educational system at all levels, including efforts to curtail equity, diversity, and inclusion.

We are committed to our mission to foster an inclusive community of psychologists and doctoral students committed to exemplary healthcare. Our vision and values reflect our commitment to psychologists, to our education and training system, to the consumers served by our psychologists, and to society at large. Our actions will reflect this commitment.

We pledge to continue to foster an environment that supports warm, productive, and respectful dialogue. We will increase our impact through advocacy. We will expand opportunities for cross-cultural understanding and opportunities through our educational outlets, including clinical webinars, the Journal of Health Service Psychology, the National Practice Conference, and our podcasts. We will seek ways to offer low- or no-cost training for those who are unable to teach or learn EDI principles, clinical applications, and relationship issues. We will continue to prioritize scholarship and award funding to those who serve marginalized and underserved communities to help reduce systemic barriers to healthcare.

While we hope some of the recent developments are temporary, we understand that system-wide changes are hard to unwind and lost opportunities for some may be permanent. If you would like to share your experiences and perspectives with the National Register, please complete the form below.

Finally, we will continue to stand by all of our member psychologists and Associates, regardless of their background, and we will remain an inclusive and welcoming community for those striving to provide exemplary psychological services.
