John Thomas Elected to National Register of Health Service Psychologists Board of Directors

The National Register Board of Directors elected Mr. John Thomas as a Public Representative of the Board to a three-year term effective January 1, 2025. 

In response to his election, John commented, “I am excited about the opportunity to support the National Register’s mission of empowering its members to provide exemplary healthcare.  The public’s need for access to qualified mental healthcare cannot be understated, now more than ever.  The National Register plays a vital role in addressing that need, and I look forward to contributing to its important work.”

Mark C. Fleming, PhD, Chair of the National Register Board of Directors, commented on the election: “On behalf of the Board of Directors, congratulations to Mr. Thomas. The Board looks forward to working with our newly elected members to strengthen the identity of the National Register as the professional home for health service psychologists.”

Mr. Thomas earned his law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law.  He is a partner and trial lawyer at McGuireWoods LLP where he assists employers with complex issues involving misappropriation of trade secrets, covenants not to compete, executive compensation disputes, wage-and-hour laws, and all other employment-law issues.  He currently serves as the elected co-chair for the Labor & Employment section of the Fairfax Bar Association, and he sits on the Fairfax Local Access to Justice Commission. Previously, Mr. Thomas served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and as pro se law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.  He also served as President of the Board of Directors for the Tysons Corner Children’s Center and as past Secretary for the Board of Trustees for the Kiwanis Foundation of Tysons Corner/McLean.
