Registrant Spotlight: Dr. Mary Ann McCabe

We are pleased to introduce our July 2022 National Register Member Spotlight, Mary Ann McCabe, PhD, ABPP. 

Dr. McCabe is a clinical psychologist in independent clinical practice and Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine. She is a member of the National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine Forum on Promoting Children’s Wellbeing and the National Advisory Committee for HealthySteps. She was previously the Director of the Office for Policy and Communications of the Society for Research in Child Development and both Director of Training in Psychology and Director of Health Psychology at Children’s National Medical Center.

Dr. McCabe is an APA Fellow and has been active in APA governance. She currently serves on the APA Council of Representatives and Chair of the Interdivisional Task Force on Child and Adolescent Mental Health. She has previously served as a Member of the Board of Educational Affairs, Chair of the Board of Professional Affairs, Member of the Workgroup on Expanded Advocacy and Chair of the Committee for Professional Practice and Standards (COPPS). She is active in public policy and advocacy – particularly as it relates to promoting healthy development, prevention, evidence-based practice, and mental health – for which she has received several awards. She has written for the Journal of Health Service Psychology and provided a National Register CE program on Involving Minors in Decisions about Medical and Mental Health Care.

Dr. McCabe has commented, “I became credentialed with the National Register as soon as I was eligible early in my career. Since that time I have relied on the National Register for continuing education regularly, and have received clinical referrals from the Find a Psychologist program.”
