The National Register of Health Service Psychologists is proud to present the 2020 Judy E. Hall Early Career Psychologist Award to Courtney L. Benjamin Wolk, PhD, of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. This award comes with a $10,000 stipend.

This award, named in honor of the National Register’s Executive Officer from 1990 through 2013, is presented annually to a National Register credentialed psychologist with fewer than 10 years of postdoctoral experience. This award supports a specific project that will enhance the contributions of psychology to health care.

The National Register’s Awards Committee was impressed by Dr. Wolk’s development and implementation of the Coping First Aid program to provide accessible support to healthcare workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. She plans to use the award funds to develop marketing materials, expand the program to non-healthcare worker populations, and evaluate its effectiveness.

Upon receiving the award, Dr. Wolk said, “I am honored to receive the Judy E. Hall Early Career Psychologist Award. This award will allow my colleague Dr. Emily Becker-Haimes and I to expand the scope of the Coping First Aid program we developed to support frontline healthcare workers impacted by COVID-19. I am grateful to the National Register for their recognition and support.”

Dr. Wolk is an Assistant Professor at the Penn Center for Mental Health in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her BA in Psychology from The Ohio State University. She completed both her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Temple University where she focused on the development and evaluation of cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT) for child and adolescent anxiety. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Wolk has been credentialed by the National Register since 2014.

This announcement will also be featured in the National Register’s Journal of Health Service Psychology.
