Dr. Lauren Welter on the

Dr. Lauren Welter—licensed psychologist and owner of Prairie Home Wellness and Counseling—discusses the mental health needs of individuals who live in rural areas. Specifically, Dr. Welter talks through considerations for providing mental health support to farmers and ranchers. 

Dr. Lauren WelterDr. Welter is a licensed psychologist and the owner of Prairie Home Wellness and Counseling in rural Iowa. Lauren grew up in Iowa and briefly became a Wall Street investment banker before returning to the state and becoming a psychologist and farmwife. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa’s Counseling Psychology program and completed her internship at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs hospital. She particularly enjoys working with survivors of all types of trauma. On the personal side, she has four young children she is usually chasing after, and enjoys running, yoga, and coffee and dinner dates with friends when she can.
