Thank You for Supporting the Future of Psychology

Your generosity and commitment is making an impact on psychology doctoral students across the country. As they adjust to new cities, new responsibilities, and the intensity of their clinical training, they are also achieving lifelong dreams—and you’re making that possible.

Every gift matters. We are grateful for all of our partners and donors who support doctoral students across the country. Those who have contributed $100 or more to the Next Generation Fund are listed below.

“It is always a priority to support the future of our profession and there is no better way to assure ‘psychologists to be’ get the training they need, than to contribute to this scholarship fund. One way to think about what one is able to give, is to contribute an amount equal to one clinical hour’s billing amount. One hour of the hundreds we all have throughout the year can go a long way to support students’ needs during their training.” – Blaine Lesnik, PsyD, donor

Leadership Circle ($5,000 over 5 years)

The National Register’s Leadership Circle includes committed donors who sponsor a student’s entire Internship Travel Scholarship annually for five years. Having their recurring support is critical to providing doctoral students with the funding that they desperately need.

Why Donate?

“I was pleased to learn about and contribute to NR’s mission supporting graduate students on their journey to become health service psychologists. Internships are critical to this process and at the same time often require relocation and additional costs. The Next Generation Fund eases the barriers of this financial stress. Please donate to sustain this important program!” – Mary K. Alvord, PhD, donor

“Rekindle those exciting but financially anxious moments of relocating from graduate school to your internship. Then join us in helping our next generation of psychologists make that expensive transition.” – John C. Norcross, PhD, 2025 Visionary

“Hi, colleagues! Please join me in supporting psychology students who are following in our footsteps. Not only will you be helping the next generation of psychologists, but you’ll also feel good knowing that this small act can make a lasting impact on the future of our profession.” – Steven Sobelman, PhD, donor

“I remember vividly moving from my graduate program to my internship. I served as the Director of Internship Training for over 20 years, so witnessed many grad students grappling with the stressors of moving to their internship site. A scholarship like the one being offered by the National Register can reduce the stress of this move.” – Kathie Larsen, PhD, donor

“Internship is such a special time in a student’s journey towards the doctoral degree in psychology. Giving to The National Register Travel Scholarship Program allows me to contribute not only financial support but also professional support for their journey. It’s one of my ways of saying congratulations on this next step, and I am glad you are a part of our psychological community!” – Jana Martin, PhD, 2025 Leadership Circle

About the Next Generation Fund

The Next Generation Fund helps the National Register initiate wide-reaching fundraising efforts to support doctoral students with their transition to internship by offering $1,000 Internship Travel Scholarships to eligible applicants.

100% of your donation will go directly to psychology doctoral students who are relocating for their internship. We need your support to achieve our goals in 2025 and beyond.

2023 ITS Award Winner

This scholarship will allow me a reprieve from the financial burden I have accumulated in independently supporting my education and, because of this reduced financial stress, begin my career as a psychologist with more focus on achieving my professional goals.
