June 4, 2014 (Washington, D.C.) – At its May 2014 meeting, the National Register Board of Directors elected Michael H. LeBlond, PhD, to a four-year term on the Board beginning January 1, 2015.

Dr. LeBlond spent over 20 years in the high technology and Internet industries before rededicating his life to giving back to the community through psychology. He earned his MBA in 1985 from the University of Denver and his PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO in 2010. He was the Vice President of MX Logic from 2004 to 2005 and of WebEx Communications, Inc. from 1999 to 2003. From 1988 to 1997 he held several positions with Apple Computer including Director of Technology Licensing and Director of Strategic Planning and Corporate Development. He has served on the Board of Directors for Denver Leadership Foundation, Arapahoe House, and Centennial Peaks Psychiatric Hospital. Currently, he is the founder and CEO of WebPsychology, LLC.

With his extensive background in business and technology, Dr. LeBlond will provide a fresh perspective on incorporating these areas into the psychology profession. He stated, “A major trend today is psychology’s shift to the Internet as evidenced by terms such as TeleHealth, TelePsychology, mHealth (Mobile), and e-Therapy, as well as the emergence of peer-reviewed scientific journals including ‘Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking.’ Given my previous background as an executive with leading high technology and Internet companies, I believe my greatest contribution may be to help build a model for Health Service Psychologists in how to better incorporate technology from these emerging areas to help facilitate change for individuals in the general and underserved populations. This goal matches our vision of ‘improving the health of a diverse and global community.’”

Sarah Shelton, PsyD, current member of the Board and Chair of the Nominating Committee, reflected on the decision-making process, “I was impressed by the talent, dedication, and enthusiasm demonstrated by so many of our Members who applied for these positions. Reviewing these applications underscored for me what a valuable resource and treasure the Register has in its membership. I am even more proud to be affiliated with an organization comprised of such accomplished individuals who are willing to serve in this capacity. The current Board Members are thrilled to be joined by our new Board Member Elects.”

Dr. LeBlond has been credentialed by the National Register since 2013.
