Director of Student Engagement (Part-Time)

Position Summary
The National Register of Health Service Psychologists seeks a dynamic and innovative Director of Student Engagement to strengthen relationships with psychology doctoral students, graduate training programs, internship sites, and the broader education and training community. This new half-time position will lead strategic initiatives designed to increase student awareness of the National Register, foster meaningful engagement throughout doctoral training and during the transition to early career, and develop programs that support the next generation of health service psychologists.
The Director of Student Engagement will serve as the organization’s primary liaison for psychology doctoral students, creating opportunities for connection, professional development, and leadership.
This position is ideal for a doctoral-level psychologist who is passionate about supporting future psychologists, strengthening education and training pathways, and helping shape the future of the profession through innovative engagement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
Student Engagement and Outreach
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to increase engagement with psychology doctoral students nationwide.
- Build relationships with doctoral programs, training directors, internship training directors, faculty, and student organizations.
- Represent the National Register at selected educational meetings, conferences, and virtual events.
- Develop communications and programming specifically tailored to graduate students and early career psychologists.
Student Advisory Board
- Establish and oversee a National Register Student Advisory Board.
- Recruit, facilitate the appointment of, and support student advisory board members.
- Facilitate regular meetings and solicit feedback on National Register initiatives, services, and communications.
- Create leadership development opportunities for student representatives.
Education and Training Partnerships
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with doctoral programs, internship sites, and organizations involved in psychology education and training.
- Identify opportunities for partnerships that increase the National Register’s visibility among students.
- Collaborate with internal staff to develop educational resources and programming relevant to doctoral trainees.
Strategic Initiatives
- Identify emerging needs and trends affecting psychology doctoral students.
- Recommend new programs, resources, and services that enhance the student member experience.
- Monitor participation metrics and engagement data to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for organizational leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Doctoral degree in psychology.
- Strong knowledge of doctoral education and clinical training in health service psychology.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across organizations.
- Experience managing projects from conception through implementation.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Expected Outcomes
Within the first 12 months, the Director of Student Engagement will:
- Launch a nationally representative Student Advisory Board.
- Expand engagement with psychology doctoral programs and internship sites across the United States.
- Increase awareness of the National Register among doctoral students.
- Develop plans for sustainable programming that supports students throughout their educational journey and transition into professional practice.
Compensation
The salary range for this 0.50 FTE exempt position is $65,000-$75,000. Limited travel is expected for conferences, meetings, and strategic outreach activities.
