Credentialing Scholarships

The National Register offers 2 credentialing scholarships:

Early Career Psychologist Credentialing Scholarships

Are you interested in joining the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology? If yes, but the application fee is a barrier, you should apply for a National Register Early Career Psychologist (ECP) Credentialing Scholarship.

Early Career Psychologist Credentialing Scholarships were developed in conjunction with the APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists. These scholarships help ECPs (within seven years of award of doctoral degree) become credentialed as Health Service Providers in Psychology by covering the cost of the credential review and registration fees.

To qualify for a credentialing scholarship, you must have graduated from an APA/CPA accredited or ASPPB/National Register designated doctoral program (see a list of designated programs).

To apply for a credentialing scholarship, please email the following materials to andrew@nationalregister.org:

  • A current CV
  • An application letter describing your achievements and goals as an early career psychologist, as well as an explanation of how the National Register Health Service Provider in Psychology credential will directly and positively impact your career. Also, include the name and email address of your doctoral program chair.
  • Request the National Register credentialing application
  • To qualify for the ECP scholarship you must be licensed as a psychologist. If you are not licensed, indicate when you anticipate becoming licensed at the independent practice level.

Upon the receipt of a credentialing scholarship, the award winner has 120 days to complete the National Register application and submit all relevant materials. We have awarded 308 ECP Credentialing Scholarships since the program's inception, so don't miss your chance to join your colleagues and take advantage of this opportunity.

Credentialing scholarships are made possible by donations to the National Register Scholarship Fund.  We appreciate the generosity of all of the contributors.

*If you have already submitted the non-refundable credential review fee, the scholarship will apply only to the Registration fee.

The deadline to apply for an ECP Scholarship is October 15, 2011.

National Psychologist Trainee Register Credentialing Scholarships

The National Register is the largest credentialing organization for psychologists. The National Psychologist Trainee Register helps students build and maintain a credentials profile that complies with national education and training standards, and positions them for the National Register HSPP credential. Banking credentials helps students eliminate the arduous task of ordering official transcripts and searching for past supervisors later on in their career.

The National Register, in conjunction with American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS), has developed National Psychologist Trainee Register (NPTR) Credentialing Scholarships to help doctoral students and trainees become credentialed by the National Register. These scholarships are presented to doctoral students in psychology interested in becoming credentialed by the National Register through its student program, the National Psychologist Trainee Register (NPTR), but for whom the initial cost is a financial hurdle.

The National Register provides these scholarships to defray the $300 application fees for each recipients credential banking and review (to include the doctoral degree, internship, postdoctoral supervised experience) and registration fee to activate the recipients NRHSPP credential as soon as they are licensed.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, candidates must be either currently enrolled in a doctoral program, on internship, or starting postdoctoral supervised experience. Candidates must be an APAGS member and enrolled in an APA/CPA accredited or ASPPB/National Register Designated doctoral program.

We have awarded 282 NPTR Credentialing Scholarships since the program's inception, so don't miss your chance to join your colleagues and take advantage of this opportunity.
