The Department of Psychology in Dedman College invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin August 2018: one position in Health Psychology and one in Cognitive Science (broadly construed). A PhD is required at the time of the appointment. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain a highly productive research program that can generate external funding. They must also be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful candidates will compliment research (in biological, child & family, health, psychopathology, and social psychology) being conducted by the faculty and graduate students in our APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology.

Position 1: Health Psychology. The research area is open, but topics of interest include: (1) health disparities; (2) health intervention or prevention research; (3) health risk behaviors; and (4) cardiovascular disease.

Position 2: Cognitive Science. The research area is open, but topics of interest include: (1) social and affective neuroscience; (2) social cognition; (3) learning and memory; and (4) attention. Successful candidates should be able to conduct their primary research in the absence of a neuroimaging facility on our campus.

Applicants with a PhD in any relevant area of psychology will be considered for the Health or Cognitive Science position. Current faculty members have established strong collaborative relationships with medical centers and community agencies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
