The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has compiled a series of resources, specifications, and templates for reporting on the quality of behavioral health services at Behavioral Health Clinics (BHCs) around the country.

The templates and manual of specifications and resources are intended to assist individual BHCs in evaluating their own performance for the purposes of improvement, and they may also be used by state or federal agencies that provide funding in order to better direct their financial support. Metrics include the time it takes a BHC to provide health services to clients, how long clients in a given group stay on necessary medication, and whether the BHC has provided its services to the extent recommended for better health. The integration of behavioral health into primary care is also measured.
