Starting October 1, the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Edition, Clinical Modification (ICD-10) will include new codes to better mirror the diagnoses and classifications of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5).

Fourteen disorders will be assigned new codes in the ICD-10 for the start of the 2017 fiscal year. These include certain eating, mood, and anxiety disorders, as well as Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder, a new diagnosis first included in the DSM-5.
