Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) is pleased to announce that we still have our Primary Care/Health Psychology Track position open for the 2018/2019 training year (starting in mid-August). The position is full-time.  The stipend is $48,000 and a competitive benefits package is also included. Applicants must have received their doctoral training in clinical/counseling/school psychology at an APA-accredited program and completed an APA-accredited doctoral internship.

HCMC’s main campus is located in downtown Minneapolis, MN with outlying primary care clinics throughout urban and suburban Hennepin County. HCMC is a comprehensive, academic medical center and public safety net hospital which serves a culturally, ethnically, and economically diverse population from urban, suburban, and rural areas. It also is a nationally recognized Level 1 Trauma Center that operates a 465-bed acute care hospital with primary care and specialty clinics at the downtown location.

The Primary Care/Health Psychology Fellow works in one of our multiple primary care clinics. The Primary Care/Health Psychology Fellow is integrated in the primary care team and provides assessment, short-term psychotherapy for mild to moderate psychiatric disorders, and health behavior assessments and interventions (e.g., weight management, diabetes management, smoking cessation, etc.). They also frequently consult with primary care providers to help enhance the level of care patients receive during their primary care appointments. The Primary Care/Health Psychology Fellow also engages with medical specialty care clinics (e.g., Sleep Clinic and Bariatric Surgery Clinic) and does inpatient psychology consultations to the inpatient medical and psychiatric units. The Fellow may also be asked to assist in other clinics/services, depending upon clinical needs of the organization.
