Confluence Health – Wenatchee, WA
Post-Doctoral Residency Position

Confluence Health currently has 4 Post-Doctoral Residency positions at $45K per year for the 2017-2018 training year. Benefits will include health insurance, retirement, ~ 3 weeks of vacation and 6 holidays, gym membership stipend, and reduced rates for cell phone service (carrier dependent). All doctoral degree requirements must be completed prior to the start of the Post-Doc Residency.

Integrated Primary Care Setting
The first track is the primary care track which will encompass working in various Primary Care/Family Medicine Clinics within our organization. These clinics have a variety of patient populations served including pediatric, adult, to geriatric and vary in severity of illness. We also serve many Hispanic migrant farmworkers as well as seasonal farmworkers.

Residents will serve as Behavioral Medicine Consultants within a rural primary care setting and will be called upon by providers to assess and treat patients presenting with behavioral concerns during primary care office visits. Residents will treat behavioral health concerns and expand their skill sets to a broad scope of health related issues with psychological issues driving them, including chronic disease management and wellness. Residents will work as a member of the primary care team and will provide on the fly recommendations to medical providers and to patients. Residents will learn pain management principles, Suboxone management, Migrant/Seasonal Farmworker issues, capacity evaluations, be able to attend mental health court and much more. 2 Post-Doctoral Residents will be placed within this track.

Medical Unit-1/Central Washington Hospital
The other training track is our hospital/specialty unit inpatient track. This includes working with a variety of populations (pediatric, adult, geriatric) served in the different hospital inpatient units including intensive care, pediatric, medical/oncology, transitional care, cardiac, and a variety of others.  Post-Docs will see patients throughout the hospital as needs arise and provide treatment recommendations to patients and hospitalists. Brief Solution Focused Treatment will be utilized for follow-ups with patients due to the brevity of stays. The focus during residency will be on Medical Unit-1 (MU1) patients. MU1 is a single bed certification unit serving involuntarily detained patients from 72 hours to 14 days. Assessment and treatment is provided as part of their stay as well as the treatment of any medical condition that may be impacting the patient’s overall state of health. This is a collaborative practice and requires participation in a variety of activities including mental health court, medical rounds, assessing patients, group therapy, psychiatric oversight, and community/family meetings. 2 Post-Doctoral Residents will be in this track.
