PAIN PSYCHOLOGY

The Division of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking applications for a PAIN PSYCHOLOGIST to serve individuals on our interdisciplinary pain team (e.g., psychiatry, anesthesiology, rehabilitation medicine, neurology).  The person in this position would have a joint appointment in the Division of Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology.  The individual selected for this position will join a growing, 11-member Psychology Division to: a) provide assessment, treatment, psychoeducation and triage to outpatients with pain disorders in the Spine Center Pain Program; b) participate in interdisciplinary team-based care within the clinic; c) participate in the professional education of psychology interns in our APA approved program, practicum students, and postdoctoral fellows, as well as medical residents and students in both psychiatry and anesthesiology (including fellows in pain medicine); and d) collaborate with other faculty in scholarly activities.   The selected individual will join the Departments of Psychiatry and Anesthesiology as an Assistant/Associate Professor depending on background/experience.  Applicants must be from an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program (with an APA approved clinical internship), have at least one year of relevant post-doctoral experience in pain psychology and be at least two years postdoctoral, and licensable in the State of Kansas by the time of the appointment.   Strong preference will be given to those applicants with experience developing pain management programs and with research publications and research background.  Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.  Start date is flexible.
