On October, 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Diseases (10th Ed., or ICD10) becomes the universal classification system for all treatable disorders. Essentially, anyone who treats HIPAA covered patients (almost everyone), and providers who bill major insurers, submit claims to Medicare, or other federal agencies like TRICARE are required to use ICD diagnostic codes when submitting billing. Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services: Volunteer for ICD-10 End-to-End Testing in April - Deadline Extended to Jan. 21
During the week of April 26 through May 1, 2015, a second sample group of providers will have the opportunity to participate in ICD-10 end-to-end testing with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and the Common Electronic Data Interchange (CEDI) contractor. Approximately 850 volunteer submitters will be selected to participate in the April end-to-end testing. Read More
