Pacific University, an outstanding private, comprehensive university located in the Portland metro area of the beautiful Pacific Northwest, seeks an accomplished leader to serve as Dean of its School of Graduate Psychology (SGP). SGP is one of eight schools comprising Pacific’s College of Health Professions. The next Dean of SGP will contribute to the continuing development of a robust college- and university-wide priority to develop models of interprofessional education, practice and research. That interprofessional setting, along with the School’s strong history of clinical training, provides students with a distinctive, integrated education in health service psychology. Located on a modern campus in Hillsboro, Oregon, SGP supports APA-accredited PhD (scientist-practitioner) and PsyD (practitioner-scholar) and MPCAC-accredited Master's in Applied Psychological Science (local clinical scientist) programs, as well as an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program and a postdoctoral fellowship. The School’s own Pacific Psychology & Comprehensive Health Clinics in Hillsboro and Portland provide care for marginalized and underserved populations; those clinics, along with partner organizations, offer students uniquely integrated clinical opportunities. In addition to contributing visionary leadership to these evidence-based training programs, the Dean will also be able to pursue personal academic and scholarly interests and continue to cultivate a collaborative academic community deeply committed to diversity, equity, and multicultural inclusion.
The role of Dean requires a record of scholarly achievement, administrative leadership, program and resource development, excellence in teaching and practice, knowledge and experience in diversity, equity and inclusion, and financial management experience. The successful applicant will embrace models of broad and general graduate education to prepare graduates in health service psychology, support faculty research and scholarly endeavors, and infuse research, scholarship, and inquiry into an academic and service culture. The Dean will support the School’s endeavors to serve marginalized groups (e.g., through community-based research and clinical services), and will value a learner-centered paradigm, evidence-based practice, and interprofessional training. The position reports to Pacific’s Vice Provost and Executive Dean of the College of Health Professions.
