Data are convincing that the expansion of eligibility for young adults has resulted in an increase in mental health utilization. As the article states, the rise in emergency department visits is likely linked to an increase in demand for inpatient care for substance abuse and other mental health issues. It is also clear that the ACA is creating supply and demand problems for psychologists and other mental health providers. What can we as a profession do to address this?
