OUHSC- OKC VA Clinical Psychology Residency Position- Health Psychology Emphasis
The Health Psychology Emphasis area currently has 1 position available for the 2018-2019 academic year.
The location for the Resident focusing on Health Psychology will primarily be located at the OKC Veterans Affairs Health Care System but may have other training opportunities at the OUHSC. The Clinical Health Psychology staff represent a diverse spectrum of theoretical orientations and deliver services in a variety of medical settings. Chronic pain management, psychological adjustment to physical illness/disability and tobacco use reduction are the broad categories where we operate. This includes individual and group psychotherapy, biofeedback training, psychoeducational presentations and pre-surgical evaluations for solid organ and stem-cell transplants, bariatric surgeries and other high-risk surgical procedures and medical regimens. The fellow works as an integral member of psychology and multi-disciplinary teams. An IRB-approved research project is required, with fellows choosing to join an existing team, expand their dissertation work, or develop a new area of focus.
The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Clinical Psychology-OKC VA Postdoctoral Residency Consortium has emphasis areas in Child and Adult Clinical Psychology. Residents in the Health Psychology Emphasis area will receive all required didactics in the Clinical Psychology Residency program including completion of a research project. Applicants must have completed their Ph.D./Psy.D. in an APA Accredited Clinical or Counseling Psychology program and an APA-Accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship in Psychology.
