Child and Adolescent Psychologist
The Department of Psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is conducting a national search for a doctoral level Child and Adolescent Psychologist to join the clinical faculty. This position requires an individual capable of working with a multi-disciplinary team, providing diagnostic assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and their families in an outpatient clinic in the context of an academic Medical Center.
The Department of Psychiatry has a highly successful 2-year fellowship program in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and accepts 3 residents per year for advanced training, with a strong emphasis on training clinicians in psychotherapy. The successful candidate will have competence in conducting, supervising and training resident physicians in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and conducting group CBT sessions with the fellows. An ideal candidate will also have an interest in expanding the existing training program by aiding in the development of pre-doctoral and postdoctoral training programs for child psychologists. The Psychiatry Department has a long and successful history of training in the areas of neuropsychology and adult clinical psychology. It is the department’s goal to integrate new training positions focused on child and adolescent psychology into the current APA-accredited internship program, as well as to expand opportunities for postdoctoral training in child and adolescent psychology.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in one of the following areas: The treatment of trauma and stress-related disorders in children, treatment with children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder, and/or sufficient training in Pediatric Psychology to handle referrals from diverse departments, including neurology, pediatrics, endocrinology, GI, hematology/oncology, urology and rheumatology.
