Giving youth more time to sleep can significantly enhance all aspects of their lives, including health and academics. Not having enough sleep can lead to various health risks like being overweight, excessive drinking, smoking, or using drugs.

One reason attributed with not getting enough sleep is early school start times.

According to the 2014 School Health Policies and Practices Study, "93% of high schools and 83% of middle schools in the U.S. started before 8:30 am." The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that middle and high schools start at 8:30 am or later in order for adolescents to get the sleep they need.
