We are now accepting applications for two psychologist positions and one public representative position on the National Register Board of Directors. The terms begin January 1, 2019.
Psychologist applicants must be currently credentialed by the National Register. We do not require a minimum number of years of licensure or professional practice, and strongly encourage applications from early career psychologists. Experience in training sites, VAs, military settings, or school psychology is a plus. Expertise in healthcare delivery systems including primary care settings, outpatient clinics, community hospitals, and university hospitals is also valued.
Public representative applicants cannot be a psychologist or in training to become a psychologist. We desire applicants with significant experience in healthcare administration or service provision, marketing, finance, or fundraising.
Other experiences and areas of expertise will be considered for all applicants, depending on how those characteristics supplement the strengths of the current Board of Directors and serve the mission of the National Register. We seek a diverse range of candidates of any background, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity.
So that you may make an informed decision as to your interest and availability in applying for the Board of Directors, please note that:
- The primary role of the Board is to set policy consistent with the purposes of the corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Board of Directors meets twice a year, usually in early June and December, on Friday and Saturday. Between Board meetings, discussion and some decision-making occurs through email and conference calls. Each Board member serves on at least one NR committee; each committee conducts its business by email and conference call.
- As we are a nonprofit organization, Board members do not receive a salary or stipend, but are reimbursed for reasonable expenses (e.g., economy-class airfare, hotel accommodations, and meals) to attend meetings.
- This is a self-nomination process. Your cover letter and the answers to the online survey are the most important components of the application. Please address what you might bring to the deliberations of the Board of Directors, and describe how your expertise fits with the mission of the organization. Final candidates are interviewed by a Board committee and new Board members are elected by majority vote of the Board.
- Board members are elected to serve one four-year term. Following a latency period of at least one year, Board members are eligible to apply for a second four-year term.

Finalists will be interviewed by the Nominations Committee in October and November, and the elections will be held at the National Register Board of Directors meeting in December.
