Behavioral Health Provider (BHP) In Integrated Primary Care

The Memorial Hospital of South Bend Family Medicine Residency is seeking a clinical/health psychologist to help expand the integrated primary care services in our ambulatory clinic. This position consists of the following clinical duties:

Conducting brief evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches for behavioral health disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression, substance use, etc.), medical conditions (e.g., chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes management, etc.), and lifestyle change (e.g., weight management, tobacco cessation, exercise, etc.)

Assisting in the detection of “at risk” patients and preventing further psychological or physical deterioration

Identifying, researching, selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological testing/screening appropriate for a primary care patient population

Possibly assisting in program development for groups (e.g., pain, diabetes, weight loss, stress, etc.)

Evaluating patient care plans with the primary care team

Providing verbal and written communication that is clear and free of psychological jargon

Assisting in teaching clinical skills to family medicine residents via didactics and experiential learning opportunities

Education and Experience

The individual must have a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited psychology program as well as completion of an APA-accredited internship. Additionally, experience within a medical/primary care setting is required. Training in health psychology via a postdoctoral fellowship is preferred. The individual must be license-eligible in the state of Indiana.
