The National Register of Health Service Psychologists is pleased to announce formal recognition of the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential offered by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Psychologists who are credentialed by the National Register and hold the NCSP may now promote this information to consumers on the FindaPsychologist.org website.

“We were incredibly impressed with the NCSP credentialing requirements and internal quality assurance procedures described by the NASP staff,” notes Morgan T. Sammons, PhD, ABPP, Executive Officer of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. “It is clear that the NCSP credential is a highly credible mechanism for identifying qualified school psychologists to consumers, and we believe that highlighting psychologists who hold this distinction will add value to the information presented on our FindaPsychologist.org website. We are delighted to list the NCSP alongside our other recognized credentials offered by the American Board of Professional Psychology, the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology, and the American Psychological Association’s College of Professional Psychology.”

“The NCSP reinforces NASP’s high standards for school psychological preparation and practice and, ultimately, contributes to the quality of services for children, families and schools,” notes NASP President, Todd Savage. “Recognition by the National Register reflects the seriousness of NASP’s commitment to the rigor of the NCSP.”

In the late 1990s, the National Register established a criterion-based review process to identify credible organizations and ultimately help consumers identify psychologists who have met additional criteria in specialty/proficiency areas. More information on the requirements and application process is available on our website.
