As of August 27, 2008, there are 118 (out of more than 11,000 total) non-doctoral level psychologists who still hold the National Register HSPP credential. These Registrants applied during the grandparenting period (1975-1978).

When the National Register initiated its mobility program in 2000, the National Register Board of Directors immediately recognized that the vast majority of states license only doctoral level psychologists. Therefore, the Board of Directors voted in 2000 that it would be the policy of the National Register to only verify credentials of doctoral level psychologists to licensing boards, unless the board specifically requested the information.
