Biographical Information: Dr. Thorn is Professor and Director of the Clinical
Psychology program at the University of Alabama (Tusc)
where she has been employed for 20 years. Her Ph.D.
is from Southern Illinois University. She currently
serves on the AL State Board of Psychology and on
APA Council of Representatives. She has had extensive
experience with problems of sexual harassment, providing
expert testimony on discipline in the university.
She has served as mediator of sexual exploitation
issues with other boards. She also is working on developing
ideas on the best approach to assessment of competence
of students in interaction with others. Her research
interests are in medical/health psychology, chronic
pain, sexual dysfunctions, and assessment. She recently
published Cognitive Therapy for Chronic Pain (Guilford
Publications).
