Biographical Information: Dr. Abeles is currently a Professor of Psychology,
former Director of the Psychological Clinic, and Founding
Director of the Clinical Neuropsychology Laboratory
at Michigan State University, East Lansing. His research
interests include ethics, applied research on aging,
interpersonal relationships, process and outcome research
in psychotherapy, and clinical neuropsychology. Born
in Vienna, Austria, he received his Ph.D. in Counseling
Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
He is a founding member of the NR BOD and a former
secretary and President of the American Psychological
Association. He is a member of the gerontology and
geriatric advisory committee to the Secretary of Veteran's
Affairs. He was a Fulbright Professor at the University
of Utrecht, The Netherlands. He serves as the secretary
of the US National Committee to the International
Union of Psychological Sciences. He has just been
appointed a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference
on Aging, having served as a delegate to the 1995
conference.
