Board of Directors Call for Nominations: Psychologists

Deadline to Apply for Psychologist Positions on the National Register Board of Directors: May 1, 2012

We are now accepting applications for the National Register Board of Directors. Applicants for the four-year terms beginning January 1, 2013, must be current Registrants. We require no minimum number of years of licensure status, and encourage applications from early career psychologists.

In this call for self-nominations, we seek a diverse range of candidates with experience in training sites, including schools or other places where school psychology graduates are employed, VA and military settings; in addition, expertise in healthcare delivery systems including primary care settings, outpatient clinics, community hospitals, and university hospitals. Other experiences and areas of expertise will be considered, depending on how those characteristics supplement the strengths of the current Board of Directors and serve the mission of the National Register. Registrants from diverse geographic locations, gender, and ethnicity are encouraged to apply.

Please review the National Register Mission Statement prior to preparing your application materials.

So that you may make an informed decision as to your interest and availability in applying for the Board of Directors, please note that:

  • The primary role of the Board is to set policy consistent with the purposes of the corporation,  a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Board of Directors meets twice a year, usually in early June and December, on Friday and Saturday. Between Board meetings, discussion and some decision-making occurs through email and conference calls. Each board member serves on at least one NR committee; each committee conducts its business by email and conference call.
  • As we are a nonprofit organization, Board members do not receive a salary or stipend, but are reimbursed for expenses (e.g., airfare, hotel accommodations, and meals) to attend meetings.
  • Board members are expected to donate or raise $1000 annually to the NR scholarship funds.
  • This is a self-nomination process.  Your cover letter and the answers to the online survey are the most important components of the application.  Please address what you might bring to the deliberations of the Board of Directors, and describe how your expertise fits with the mission of the organization.  Final candidates are interviewed by a Board member.

To apply:

Step 1) Complete the National Register Board of Directors Survey

Step 2) Email a thoughtful cover letter describing your areas of expertise and contributions you will make to the National Register, in light of the NR mission. Attach to the email your abbreviated CV. Please email the material to laura@nationalregister.org.

The National Register Nominations Committee will review your survey responses and application materials in light of the call for nominations.
