A nine-member Board of Directors, two of whom are non-psychologist public members, governs the National Register.  New Board members are solicited from among the Registrant population and elsewhere and are elected by the Board.  Each year, all Board members sign a confidentiality agreement that includes a conflict of interest agreement.  In addition, the National Register has written policies of whistleblower protection and document retention.  See About the National Register to view its Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.

Linda Berg-Cross, Ph.D. (2003-2006, 2007-2010) President/Chair

Since 1983, Dr. Berg-Cross has been a Professor of Psychology at Howard University. She has also maintained a private practice in clinical psychology since 1976. She has had many years of experience developing training programs for clinical psychologists and has been extensively involved with the APA accreditation process. Dr. Berg-Cross received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Teacher's College/Columbia University.

Patrick Chitwood, Ph.D. (2010-2013)

Patrick Chitwood, PhD, CPA/PFS is a registered investment advisor in Birmingham, Alabama. He is President of Chitwood Lindberg Wealth Management, Inc. He has over 30 years experience in the securities and investment industry. Dr. Chitwood received his Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Alabama, and practiced as a psychologist until 1979.

Janet L. Dewar (2006-2010) Treasurer

Janet L. Dewar has more than 30 years of experience in marketing, strategic planning, public and government relations, and general management in international businesses. She is Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Studio Theatre in Washington, DC and has served on the Development, Membership, and Planning Committees as well as various sub-committees. Ms. Dewar holds a Master's Degree in International Public Policy (MIPP) from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Drew University.

Jesse Goldner, J.D. (2010-2013)
Public Representative

Jesse Goldner is the John D. Valentine Professor of Law at Saint Louis University School of Law. He also holds secondary appointments in the University's School of Medicine in Pediatrics and Psychiatry, as well as in the University's Center for Healthcare Ethics. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, and holds an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Columbia's Teachers College.

Greg Greenwood, Ph.D. (2009-2012)

Greg Greenwood, PhD, MBA, received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. In 1986 Dr. Greenwood joined American Biodyne, where he became a member of the executive team. Since then he has held executive level positions in healthcare/behavioral health at BCBS of Texas, Magellan Behavioral Health Services, ValueOptions, and Anthem BCBS/WellPoint, Inc. He is currently President and CEO of Human Capital Specialists, Inc.,  an executive recruiting and management consulting firm. He lives with his wife, Kristina L. Greenwood, PhD (who is also a clinical psychologist and healthcare executive) in San Diego, CA.

John C. Norcross, Ph.D. (2003-2006, 2007-2010) Vice President/Vice Chair

Dr. Norcross is Professor of Psychology and Distinguished University Fellow at the University of Scranton and a clinical psychologist in part-time independent practice.  He has extensive editorial and administrative experience in organized psychology. He served as president of the APA Division of Psychotherapy and the Society of Clinical Psychology.  His clinical work entails conducting individual and therapy with adolescents and adults, particularly with fellow mental health professionals. Dr. Norcross trained at Rutgers University, University of Rhode Island, and Brown University School of Medicine.

Adele S. Rabin, Ph.D. (2008-2011)

Dr. Rabin is a Professor of clinical psychology at the San Diego campus of Alliant International University and is the former and founding Systemwide Dean of the California School of Professional Psychology.  Dr. Rabin currently serves as the Director of the Clinical Psychology PhD program in San Diego and maintains a part-time private practice.  Dr. Rabin brings to the Board her expertise as a long-time educator and trainer of psychologists, substantial clinical and administrative experience in both the private and public sectors, and a deep commitment to the discipline. Dr. Rabin received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Houston.

Patrick O. Smith, Ph.D. (2009-2012) Secretary

Dr. Smith is Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine.  He is a Professor of Family Medicine and holds joint appointments in the Departments of Surgery and Psychiatry and Human Behavior.  He has served with the Mississippi Psychological Association, the Mississippi Board of Psychology and the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers.  He maintains a primary care psychology practice and oversees a health psychology postdoctoral fellowship in primary care.

Steven Sobelman, Ph.D. (2010-2013)

Dr. Sobelman maintains a private clinical psychology practice in Towson, Maryland. He is a retired psychology professor at Loyola College, Baltimore, Maryland, where he served as Chair, Graduate Programs in Psychology. He currently serves as a Board Member on the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists. He also served as President of the Maryland Psychological Association and continues to be actively involved in MPA’s legislative activities. Dr. Sobelman received his doctoral degree in counseling and clinical psychology from The American University.
