About Me

Dr. Gieda has over twenty years of clinical experience working with adults (ages 18 and above). He uses a cognitive behavioral therapy approach (CBT) in treating mood and anxiety disorders. This approach is generally short-term and solution focused and goal directed in reducing symptoms, building skills, and learning to solve problems. The techniques and strategies used in CBT rely upon scientific research that has demonstrated effectiveness for many clients. Dr. Gieda received graduate degrees in psychology from Columbia University and The Pennsylvania State University. He completed clinical internships at the Bronx Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the University of Maryland Counseling Center. Dr. Gieda completed an extramural training program at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia and is a Certified Cognitive Therapist with the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. He is licensed as a psychologist and chemical dependency counselor.

Why Choose a National Register Psychologist?
The National Register is the largest credentialing organization for psychologists. The independent, non-profit organization was created in 1974 with the help of the American Psychological Association and the American Board of Professional Psychology. Today, the National Register is the leading source of information on nationally credentialed psychologists in health care. Psychologists who are awarded national Registrant status have achieved the highest educational and professional standards in health care. It is the only independent, credentialing body with a national level standard for verifying education and training qualifications, licensing, and ethical standards with more than 11,000 doctoral level psychologists in its database.
