Early Career Psychologists

Are you or any of your colleagues interested in becoming credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology? If yes, but the initial cost is a barrier, apply for a National Register Early Career Psychologist (ECP) Credentialing Scholarship!

National Register Early Career Psychologist Credentialing Scholarships: This award will defray the $395 credential review and registration fees* to become a Registrant. These scholarships are provided to early career psychologists (within seven years of award of doctoral degree) who are both eligible for and interested in becoming credentialed, but for whom the initial cost is a financial hurdle. Award receipts are selected in collaboration with the APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists. To apply for this award, please email us the following materials:

  • a current CV – please be sure your curriculum vita includes the school name and years attended for ALL completed graduate level coursework in psychology (this includes coursework that did not culminate in a Master’s or Doctoral degree).
  • provide your license number and state; if you are not licensed provide the anticipated date of licensure as a psychologist at the independent practice level.
  • an application letter describing your achievements and goals as an early career psychologist, as well as an explanation of how the National Register Health Service Provider in Psychology credential will directly and positively impact your career. Also, please include the name and email address of your doctoral program chair in the application letter.

To qualify for a credentialing scholarship, you must have graduated from an APA/CPA accredited or ASPPB/National Register designated doctoral program, and complete the National Register Application Request Form. If you are not yet actively licensed, you may still submit your application materials. However, approval for the scholarship is contingent upon your holding an active license at the independent practice level in at least one jurisdiction. You will need to inform us once you are licensed.

After you apply, please spend a few minutes browsing the National Register website to learn more about the benefits of the Health Service Provider in Psychology credential, including:

  • National Distinction as a HSPP
  • License Mobility
  • Free Continuing Education**
  • Online Practice Profile on the FindaPsychologist.org Referral Website
  • Credentials Verification to Healthcare Organizations
  • Publications and Legal Updates

Upon the receipt of a credentialing scholarship, the award winner has 120 days to complete the National Register application and submit all relevant materials.

We have awarded 228 ECP Credentialing Scholarships since the program's inception, so don't miss your chance to join your colleagues and take advantage of this opportunity.

Credentialing scholarships are made possible by donations to the National Register Scholarship Fund.  We appreciate the generosity of all of the contributors.

*If you have already submitted the non-refundable credential review fee, the scholarship will apply only to the Registration fee.

** The National Register is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The National Register maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
