About Me

Dr. Settles, a former United States Army Colonel, is the owner of Settles Counseling Services and former director of the Behavioral Health Activity at Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood. From 2000 until 2010, he served on the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and for the last two was appointed by the Governor as its Chair. He is a former elected member of the Board of Trustees of Cedar Crest Hospital, Belton, TX. Settles is also a member of the American Psychological Association and has served as an APA Congressional Science Fellow working on quality of life issues for military families in Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's Office. Settles is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University and received his doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition, Dr. Settles served for eight years as a National Register Board Member.
