We wanted to make you aware that the American Red Cross Hurricane Recovery Program will no longer accept new patients after May 31, 2008.

The ARC Emotional Support Program was designed to provide access to mental health and substance abuse treatment to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. This program is available regardless of where the patient lives, the type of insurance the patient holds, or the patient’s immigration status.

The patient is allowed to choose the type of treatment and the licensed provider. Coverage is retroactive to August 30, 2005 and the American Red Cross will cover services received on or prior to September 30, 2008.

To learn more about the program, go to http://www.a2care.org/. To determine if your current pro bono patients may qualify, go to http://www.a2care.org/pdf/ATC_program_overview.pdf.

We also encourage you to contact your US Senators and Representatives to request their support in the continuation of this program.
We hope that you will support this program which has helped and should continue to help many thousands of persons still affected by the devastating hurricanes of 2005.

Regards,

Judy E. Hall, Ph.D.
